Aberdeenshire implements EDM & workflow to boost efficiencies in revenues & benefits
Aberdeenshire Council expects to beat the DWP’s 36-day target for processing benefits claims with help from electronic document management (EDM) and workflow from Comino. Implementing the Comino system will enable Aberdeenshire to connect its eight revenues and benefits offices together electronically and lessen the time spent manually processing paperwork.

After intense evaluation, Aberdeenshire selected Comino, as it achieved over 90 per cent of the tender requirements and is able to be rolled out corporately. As well as reducing paperwork for the revenues and benefits services, the system will enable better efficiency by allowing for more complete customer visibility and handling. Processing accuracy will also be improved and duplication eliminated with centrally stored information.

“Aberdeenshire, due to its rural nature, has eight revenues and benefits offices operating up to 40 miles apart.  We wanted a solution that would help bring these disparate systems together, enabling cross-team working and cost effectiveness,” explains Catherine Martin, Principal Revenues Officer, Aberdeenshire Council. “Comino was able to offer a robust solution that had enhanced functionality and scalability.

“We are delighted to be working with Comino as, from the beginning, they completely understood our requirements and exceeded our expectations. Comino ticked all the right boxes in all the right places, by offering a demonstration and product that had a real ‘wow factor’!”

The solution, currently being implemented, is due to go live by March 31st 2006.
